Vacancy

Artist Note:

In this show I wanted to curate an environment for this series of books. The result is the very kind of environment the books are about, a haunting and deteriorating space encased in a vacant kind of silence. A silence not devoid of sound, but a silence that leaves you waiting for what might come next. Wind chimes at night. The moment just before your phone rings. A creaking footstep followed by nothing. The kind of space haunted not by ghosts or people or monsters, but by the surrounding windows and walls.

This space was curated to feel as if someone was living here and suddenly stood up and left - never returning. Viewers could interact, but not rearrange, the space.
